![]() I think the fun starts from choosing your fabric and ends when the quilt is completed. The finished quilt is just stunning, and one I cannot wait to get started on. There are added details, such as embroidery and embellishments, and putting the quilt together is demonstrated and simply explained. My craft group is using this book to make a combined project, with each lady taking one row each to stitch. The Row by Row Quilt is beautiful, each row showcases a quilting process and when they are put together, the effect is just divine. There are also two bonus projects included. These requirements also suggest a fabric colour scheme. The fabric requirements are given in yards and Fat Quarters are also needed. How to cut your fabric and deciding your layout are covered in pictorial and written form. The book comes with templates, so any difficulty is made easier for the beginner quilter, and there is a section on what tools are needed. Quilting: Row by Row shows quilting techniques from a simple patch to the more advanced applique. Each year a theme is announced on the Row by Row Experience website. The Row by Row Experience is designed for quilters and shops alike. This Quilt Style was embraced by the Row by Row Experience in 2013 by Janet Lutz. This pretty little book is perfect for quilters. Row by Row Quilts are quilts made up of rows of quilt blocks or components with each row distinct from the others. I'm looking forward to getting started on this! My only complaint is the small font! This would make an excellent gift, especially for some new to quilting. ![]() There are plenty of photos to illustrate the steps, and the explanations are clear. There are also two bonus quilt designs at the back, using some of the patterns from the main quilt. Instead the appliquéd picture is the focal point in the centre. Note that the rows are listed (and made) in order of increasing complexity, but they aren’t put together that way. There’s a section on how to put it all together and on doing the binding. The last row is an appliqué picture which includes a tree, the sun, some bunting, a car, caravan and scooter. Then a ribbon design, Dresden shapes, pinwheels, birds, flowers, triangles, a flower bed design, flying geese and a French braid. The first row is very simple squares, so the reader can learn the basics. The book begins with general information about the fabric and equipment required, pre-washing fabric, grain lines, pressing fabric, how to cut fabric and how to stitch, press and butt seams. Choose any of the critters or creatures.Take your pick of rows in four distinct categories, choose a theme and then make a row to add to your quilt, following the theme. Each row is different, and the reader learns a range of skills gradually, so that they can build their confidence over the course of making the whole thing. I bought this book because a friend made this quilt and it is beautiful, plus she had great fun making it.
